NBC Wipes Off Lipstick Jungle!

Well, another "stiletto feminist/girl power" shows bites the dust!  NBC has decided to cancel Lipstick Jungle.  Based on the best-selling book by Candace Bushnell (who also wrote Sex and the City), this once enticing drama followed three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game. Like similar shows (Cashmere Mafia and Desperate Housewives), Lipstick lost it's edge when it downplayed the sexiness that attracted it's audience in favor of Lifetime Channel-like sisterhood drama.  Bushnell's other show, Sex and the City, also waded into that territory on occasion but it never lost it's sex appeal.  No matter how much dramatic bonding you saw, the women in the show would always rebound by episode's end with their next sexual conquest.

What happened to the Nico who cheated on her husband with a hot 20-something boy toy?  What happened to the Victory who was lured into a threesome?  And will we never see if Wendy gets over her guilts and does the nasty with her husband's friend?  Writers of the show thought best to change these three sexy divas into poor "woe is me I'm such a helpless girl" versions and saw their show get the ax.

So writers of Desperate Housewives - if you're reading this, make Gabrielle a scandalous woman  again and maybe your show won't follow Lipstick down the tubes!
