I actually started reading this book last month. It’s a fascinating read. One thing I noticed though, both in the book and in the above interview, is there’s this underlying implied permission that a man must grant to a woman in most cases before she can explore. I don’t know if that is the case of if the author is trying to soothe the egos of the men reading, leading them to believe they haven’t lost complete control of the situation.

Fantastic article from start to finish! I admire both your references as well as your analogies. Isn’t it funny though, that in the same way the media can so easily be held responsible for the destruction of female self esteem and and our perceptions of what is socially acceptable regarding beauty and class, can also hoist us up to entirely new levels when it comes to our own thoughts and ideas on our own sexuality as well as female sexuality as a whole? Just a thought that came to mind as I read this.
